Chelsea House
A small Chelsea house imbued with charm and sophistication
Nestled in the heart of Chelsea, this charming terrace house underwent a thoughtful transformation by Paolo Moschino, turning modest space into elegant grandeur. Having collaborated with these clients on two previous homes, Paolo was tasked with making the compact rooms feel open, inviting and decidedly refined—while preserving the continental sophistication they adore.
From the moment you enter, you sense the design ambition: a new basement was excavated to introduce light, height, and functional flow. The L-shaped entrance hall leads into a drawing room that exudes warmth—soft buff hessian walls, twin linen sofas, paired lamps, and symmetrical accents that balance grandeur with intimacy. Antique pieces, gilt frames and painted furniture add subtle flash, preventing the design from feeling too formal.
Each room reveals a richer colour palette as you move through the house: pale and luminous tones in the basement, soft creams and warm neutrals on the ground floor, then deeper, richer hues in the bedrooms. Patterned wallpapers, painted effects, antique furnishings and carefully selected textures enrich every surface.
House & Garden
Outdoors, the small courtyard garden is treated as an extension of the home—a curated space for dining and entertaining, styled with the same attention to balance, proportion, and character as the interiors.
This project shows how thoughtful intervention—new structural work, clever layout, artful detailing—can turn a modest terrace house into a home of exceptional warmth, elegance, and personality.
