Tulchan Lodge, a venerable hunting estate in the Scottish Highlands
Tulchan Lodge is a venerable hunting estate in the highlands of Scotland that has recently been transformed into a sporting club with a small, exclusive roster of members. For more than a century, the Edwardian lodge, which sits at the heart of a 22,000-acre property, had played host to an extraordinary guest list of powerful international leaders, from European kings and statesmen to American presidents and captains of industry.
Our Design Studio was commissioned to oversee the lodge’s complete renovation and refurbishment, preserving the listed building’s history and design aesthetic while adding luxury conveniences that include a bar, cinema room, wine room, gym, spa, and gun room. The client’s design brief also included the need to counteract the often bleak atmosphere created by the famously wet and windy highlands weather. As a result, the interiors are now warm and welcoming, filled with life, exuberance, and sumptuous, colourful furnishings; the rooms reflect a deep respect for the Scottish lodge’s history yet provide the club’s elite membership with the comfort, refined luxury, and state-of-the-art technology that one would expect.
