'Adnet Collection'

A collection of handmade leather-covered furniture and lighting that fits beautifully in both classic and contemporary interior design projects.

Jacques Adnet (April 1900 – October 1984) was an icon of luxurious French modernism. Deeply rooted in the Art Deco movement that began in Paris in the 1920s, he was a designer, architect, and interior designer known for his avant-garde design aesthetic.

He attended Adnet attended the Municipal School of Design in Auxerre and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He exhibited at the celebrated 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, and by 1928 had become Director of La Compagnie des Arts Français (CAF) at the age of 28.

Jacques Adnet believed in the functional aspect of furniture combined with geometrical simplicity. Inspired by pre-classical styles and well versed in traditional furniture design, he was one of the first to incorporate precious woods, chromed metals, and embellishments such as mirror, leather, parchment, and smoked glass in elegant, clean-lined silhouettes, with decoration pared away whenever possible.

The pieces in the Adnet Collection, which are produced by our skilled craftspeople, feature a distinctive saddle-stitching detail, a hand-stitching technique commonly used by saddle makers. It is now not only used for saddle making but also for beautiful handmade leather goods and luxury leather-covered furniture.

Jacques Adnet died in 1984, having created a legacy of fine design that feels modern even today. Our collection of leather-and-brass lighting and furniture designs inspired by his work pays homage to one of our heroes and continues his legacy, interpreted in our own manner.
